Graduation FAQ's

  • All degree seeking students should apply for program completion upon registering for their final courses. Once you have applied and if you are not registered for all of your final courses, and plan on transferring in your remaining requirements you may be contacted by your Academic  Advisor or the Registrar’s Office to submit a Student Education Plan (SEP).

Licensure and Certificate students should apply for program completion before completing their final class. Please note that licensure-only and certificate-only completers do not participate in the Commencement Ceremony.

Undergraduate students (traditional/non-traditional) may be contacted by their Academic Advisor or the Registrar’s Office to submit a Student Education Plan (SEP) using the Degree Audit tool. To submit a plan, students must first go into their Degree Audit by clicking on the link in the Advising and Student Resources tab. Once in the Degree Audit, select the “Plans” tab. The plan will then need to be reviewed and approved by a student’s Academic Advisor and/or the Registrar’s Office. If you have questions on how to submit a SEP plan please contact your academic advisor.

Graduate students do not need to submit a SEP plan.

  • Grades are due from instructors one week after the last day of the term. After grades are rolled and posted on your official transcript, it will take an additional week or two for the Registrar’s Office to review your file and award your degree. You can continually check your unofficial transcript on CSP Connect or degree audit to see if your degree has been awarded. Two to four weeks after your degree is awarded, you can expect your official completion letter via email with details on obtaining your diploma and a complementary degree completion transcript.

  • YES! All students need to submit an application for program completion, even if not participating in commencement. The application is what prompts the Registrar’s Office to review your file for completion and award your degree, licensure, or certificate.

  • CSP celebrates its graduates with a Commencement Ceremony every May and December. For exact dates of graduation, please check the academic calendar. Specific ceremony times and other details will be posted on the commencement site, so please watch for updates.

  • Only undergraduate degree-completing students are eligible to earn honors. Graduate students are not eligible as they must maintain a 3.0 GPA to remain in their program.

Undergraduate students who complete 60 or more credits at CSP and meet the following GPA requirements will earn Latin honors:

    • 3.6 – 3.74 Cum Laude
    • 3.75 – 3.89 Magna Cum Laude
    • 3.9 – 4.0 Summa Cum Laude

Undergraduate students who complete 59 or fewer credits at CSP and meet the following GPA requirements will earn honors:

    • 3.75 – 3.89 with Distinction
    • 3.9 – 4.0 with High Distinction

Honors listed in the commencement program will be estimated if your degree is not yet awarded and may change based on your final grades and cumulative GPA when your degree is awarded. The honors earned, if any, at the time your degree is awarded will be printed on your transcript and diploma. If your degree is awarded after the commencement ceremony and your estimated honors changed, you may request to exchange your medallion or pin by contacting the Registrar’s Office at 651-641-8233 or registrar@csp.edu.

  • The award date on your diploma will coincide with the term in which you complete your program requirements and your degree is awarded. It may not be the same date as your Commencement Ceremony.

In some cases, the date on your diploma may be later than the date that you have actually “graduated” or completed your degree requirements. If your employer or another third party requires verification that your degree is valid because of the date differential, the Registrar’s Office can write a letter to verify that your degree has been earned. Please see the “Enrollment & Degree Verification” page to submit this request.

CSP diplomas list the degree earned and honors earned, if any. Your diploma will not list your major(s) or minor(s).
