Minor

Overview

Minoring in Spanish involves the study of how to speak, write, and read the Spanish language using a communicative approach. In addition to learning grammar, syntax, and vocabulary, you will study the history, culture, and literature of Latin America, Spain, and Latino communities in the United States. You’ll gain valuable communication, language, and leadership skills as you take 24 credit hours toward a Spanish minor in conjunction with a different bachelor’s degree major. You’ll also experience real learning beyond the classroom, with study abroad opportunities if you are interested in a full cultural immersion or with a nearby internship. As Spanish proficiency is increasingly appearing in job descriptions as a desired or required qualification, our minor is designed to be responsive to the exact needs of the marketplace. It can increase your employability for a variety of opportunities in education, business, government, legal advocacy, journalism, tourism, agriculture, healthcare, and other fields.
