NWHSU/CSP Master of Science in Exercise Science

About the Program

An articulation agreement between Concordia University, St. Paul and Northwestern Health Sciences University (NWHSU) allows students in NWHSU’s Doctor of Chiropractic program to apply to attend CSP’s Master of Science in Exercise Science program. Doctor of Chiropractic students can fulfill five courses (15 total credits) through transfer. Six courses (18 total credits) remain to complete the Master of Science in Exercise Science program from CSP.

Any NWHSU doctor of chiropractic alumnus is eligible for this partnership (please see alumni section below for further details). Of note, CSP’s current graduate transfer credit policy indicates transfer credits must be completed within the past seven years. If credits were completed longer than seven years ago, they will not be accepted for transfer. Students can petition to use any courses completed longer than seven years ago.

Admission Requirements

  • Create an account and submit our online application.  Once submitted, you can follow your application process through the application portal.

  • Submit official transcripts from an accreditor that is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education stating the conferral of a Bachelor’s degree or higher with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 based on a 4.0 system.

    To be considered official, transcripts must be sent from your school directly to CSP through a secure online portal or in a sealed envelope to the Office of Admissions.

  • Please submit an unofficial copy of your NWHSU transcript to your application portal or email it to admissions@csp.edu.

     

  • Students will be asked to complete an acknowledgement form. This is not a legal contract but is instead designed to be an informational document to highlight the unique aspects of this articulation between CSP and NWHSU. Students may have questions regarding financial aid, transfer of courses, and program requirements. The acknowledgement form will help to answer specific questions.

    The acknowledgement form is required for admission to CSP’s Master of Science in Exercise Science program and will be found on your application status page once an application has been submitted. CSP wants to ensure students are aware of the unique aspects of this articulation.

Student Information

  • Any NWHSU chiropractic student, who meets the admissions requirements, is eligible for this program.

    Note: Students cannot begin CSP’s Master of Science in Exercise Science program until trimester six of the NWHSU chiropractic program. Starting in trimester six, students can be enrolled in both CSP and NWHSU simultaneously.

  • Students are encouraged to speak to their NWHSU academic advisor for specific information regarding their financial aid status.

  • The articulation agreement allows alumni of NWHSU’s Doctor of Chiropractic program to apply to and attend CSP’s Master of Science in Exercise Science program. Doctor of Chiropractic coursework can fulfill up to five courses (15 total credits) through transfer. Note: If a “B” grade or higher was not earned for NWHSU transfer courses, additional courses may be required in the Master of Science in Exercise Science program to earn the degree.

Doctor of Chiropractic Program courses from Northwestern Health Science University will be used to meet five courses (15 total credits) within the Master of Science in Exercise Science program at Concordia University.  Note: A “B” grade or higher is required in each of the NWHSU transfer courses.

A Master of Science in Exercise Science is an exceptional compliment to the Doctor of Chiropractic degree as it will allow you to relate professionally to strength and health coaches, athletic directors, athletic trainers, administrators and other clinicians in a multi-disciplinary setting such as hospitals and other large clinics.  Additionally, such a degree will allow you advanced standing in post-graduate sports chiropractic specialties such as the Certified Chiropractic Sports Provider (CCSP) and the International Certified Chiropractic Sports Provider (ICCSP).
