BS Orthotics & Prosthetics Admissions Process

INJECTED (flexibleContent; 5397 : BS Orthotics & Prosthetics Admissions Process)

in partnership with Century College

The Bachelor’s degree in Orthotics and Prosthetics is offered in partnership with a local community college, Century College. Interested applicants should first enroll in and make progress toward graduation from the orthotics and prosthetics program at Century College before transferring to Concordia University, St. Paul. However, students may start at CSP and later transfer to Century to complete the required coursework.

Majoring in Orthotics and Prosthetics involves the study of how to design and fit orthopedic braces, artificial limbs, and other devices that improve the function and quality of life for individuals with disabilities. You will learn to effectively analyze, design and construct appropriate orthoses and prostheses and make sound ethical decisions surrounding their use. How is gait analysis conducted? What role can patient counseling play? What materials should be used in fabrication? You will gain knowledge and skills that are important for any career in orthotics and prosthetics as you complete 61 credit hours towards a Bachelor of Science degree.

  • No. Both Anatomy & Physiology I & II must be taken at CSP.

  • In order to take any orthotics and prosthetics major courses, we require the 1000 level coursework at Century College to be completed. The Minnesota Transfer Curriculum (MnTC) is encouraged to be completed at Century, but not required. Any general education courses not fufilled by the MnTC can be completed at CSP, in addition to the major coursework.

    Once ready to transfer you can view our transfer admission requirements. We encourage you to connect with an admissions representative from both CSP and Century College to understand the course layout.

  • Yes. Admission to the OPCA Diploma program at Century College requires a special application and is highly competitive. The college may not be able to accept all applicants that meet the minimum admission standards. Seeking early admissions is highly encouraged.

  • Yes. Our registrar’s office will confer the degree after we have received your official transcript from Century demonstrating the OPCA 2000-level coursework has been completed.

  • It is encouraged to complete Concordia’s application to the MSOP program during the Spring of your diploma year.

  • Yes. However you must be enrolled in at least one course to be eligible to live on-campus. You can find room and board cost here.

    Students enrolled in only one course are not eligible for any merit-aid.

Joliet Junior College Students
Students who have completed the Orthotics and Prosthetics Technology, A.A.S degree at Joliet Junior College in Illinois have successfully met the Orthotic and Prosthetic Fitter AAS degree (Step 1) at Century College.

Step 2 and Step 3 are still required in order to obtain the Orthotics and Prosthetics Bachelor’s degree at CSP.
